Heyy!
Today we will be talking about the book 'Simon Vs The
Homo Sapiens Agenda' by Becky Albertalli. There will
be spoilers, you have been warned
The book opens on a conversation between 2 boys in a school,
and even without pretext you know it can't be good.
Simon - main character - appears on the outside as a 'normal' well
adjusted high school kid with good friends, and a great appreciation
for theatre - same simon, same; however simon is toting around a large
secret that someone found out by reading his e-mails!!! 😦
You are introduced to Simons friends - guitar loving, soccer playing Nick,
sensitive Leah, and theatre buddy Abby- are all part of the main group.
And then there's Blue, secret gay boy at Creekwood High School, the only one who knows Simon's gay. The boys e-mail each other as often as they can
talking about everything from halloween costumes to Blue's
dad's new baby. Blue is weary on moving the relationship past
anything besides e-mail, Simon is conflicted, but spends a
large amount of the book wondering who on earth Blue could be.
As the book progresses you meet Simons family - reality tv obsessed parents, and two sisters. Simons mom is a therapist and in his opinion analysis everything he does and is way to excited about every new thing he winds up doing, driving him crazy.
Blue is Simon's safe haven even though they
try not to disclose revealing anecdotes, they discuss
everything else, coming out, Oreos, and middle school
ticks. Everything is working, until it isn't.
During the christmas break Simon is outed in an awful way forcing him to confront everyone telling them the truth on christmas, with a small brush of bullying in the new year back at school.
Letting more personal information slip through Blue is able to guess who
Jacques -Simon - is, Simon for his part guesses incorrectly who Blue is
causing a little awkwardness between the online friends. With a riff between
Simon and his non-virtual friends, the teen goes out on a limb telling
Blue where he'll be and when. Wearing the shirt Blue bought for him
Simon heads to the parking lot fair.
Showing up to the fair 30 minuets before the fair closes Simon
discovers who Blue really is, and he is not disappointed.
Discussing 'them' the boys make their relationship official and are
super happy together.
Review time!
I loved this book!! I read it in 2 day, could not put it down!
Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda is an amazing coming
out story, and I really do think parts of the book could apply
to everyone! I mean how many people really truly know who
they are in high school, or at any time for that matter?!
The fact that Simon was able to find someone to make him truly
happy is amazing to me. When Simon found out who Blue was I
was ridiculously excited.
The book is so amazing I honestly recommend it to everyone! It's
honest, and sweet, and straight up adorable! Between family, and
friend interactions, and every e-mail from Blue this book made me
so happy!
Seriously go read it you won't regret it! 😋
Thats all for now 😊

Home Made Fondant
Heyy!
Today we're going to be talking about fondant
While baking my nieces birthday cake, which lets be honest was
looking a little lumpy, we decided to try our hand at making fondant.
You Need:
1 Bag of marshmallows
1 Bag of icing sugar
tap water
Put about half the bag of marshmallows in a large container, and
microwavein 3o second bursts until they're gooey - similar consistency
as though you were making rice crispies.
Once you have the desired constancy stir in 4 cups - use more if needed - of icing
sugar kneed until well folded together, add 3-4 table spoons of water,
mix again.
Once everything is combined you should have a similar feel to play doh,
do not touch it to much you can over work, and crumble it.
If you want coloured fondant before you take it out of the bowl work in
your colours. When you are done put down some icing sugar, and roll out
your marshmallow fondant.
Review Time!
This is great! it works flawlessly, its quick to make, it costs less than store bought,
and in my opinion it tastes better than store bought fondant; however, it is very
sticky if you roll it too thin, do not get it on your clothes, and always make sure
all working surfaces are sufficiently covered in whatever you choose to put down
- Icing sugar, corn starch - It will stick to the rolling pin if rolled too thin - But it
works great, and covers just the same as store bought. I really enjoyed making it
and using it on my desserts.
Thats all for now 😊
What do you think? Have you Tried it? Let me know.
